Doing it Wrong, and Loving it

Anonymous asked: I've got to ask. Like you, one of my favorite Final Fantasy's is FF6 and Kefka is my all time favorite villain. I even had an argument with one of my BFFs about the baddest villain of Final Fantasy. So I'm gonna ask you. Who do you do was better? Kefka or Sephiroth, or do you think someone else was badder?

Well this is about to get all sorts of spoilery…

Sephiroth:

- Top Secret Corporate Science Experiment gone awry

- Looks like a bad ass

- Assassinates President Shinra

- Kills heroes “love interest” in an incredibly shocking scene

- Takes life without consideration

- Almost succeeds in taking over/destroying the world

- Turns into a one winged angel

(although most of the above MAY NOT actually be him, as it turns out the real Sephiroth was stuck in the northern crater… so I guess it was Jenova? Or visions?)

Kefka

 - Top Secret Government Science Experiment gone awry

- Is a Bad Ass

- Assassinates Emperor Gestahl, General Leo, and pretty much everyone else…

- Poisons the water supply killing Cyan’s entire family (children too), enslaves Terra, chains Celes in a cellar, vaporizes entire cities…. etc..etc..

- Takes life with glee

- Succeeds in taking over/destroying the world

- Turns into a 6 winged god.

Game/set/match - Kefka. Dude is the best villain ever conceived. He was the heath ledger Joker of his time. The first, and perhaps last Final Fantasy villain of depth to actually not have a shade of grey. You want to know why he’s doing what he does? It’s not cause he’s got mommy issues, or because chaos is a better form of nature, or because he wants to keep his giant religious lie going. No my friends, Kefka is just a nihilistic bastard who believes life is insignificant and thus pointless. In the grand scheme of things, everything we are, everything we do, every last ounce of our existence is just a speck of dust on the cosmic scale - thus nothing we do matters. And evil is just as meaningless a notion as good.

…. THAT IS SOME DEEP SHIT FOR A GAME I PLAYED WITH I WAS A KID.

This is what made him the perfect bad guy. There was no motivations for what he did. He did them because he was a crazy, depressed, psychopath who by deceiving his superiors stole power and used it to destroy the planet. Seriously… HE WINS. HE DESTROYS THE PLANET.

And I won’t dare spoil the amazing conclusion - but trust me, the world doesn’t “revert back to normal”. When the credits close, the planet is still f’ed up.

That one fact alone, makes him the most evil video game villain ever.
